Zoology
Zoology is the branch of biology dedicated to the study of animal life, covering both invertebrates and vertebrates. It investigates their structure, function, evolution, distribution, ecological relationships, behavior, and classification. Zoology can be broken down into a multitude of subdisciplines including but not limited to mammalogy, herpetology, ornithology, ichthyology, entomology, and invertebrate zoology. These fields study specific groups of animals within their broader biological contexts. As such, zoology is deeply intertwined with allied sciences like genetics, physiology, ecology, geography, and even anthropology. This makes it a vital part of the life sciences, contributing significantly to our overall understanding of biology and science at large.
