Arachnids

Definition of Arachnids as it relates to Animals

Arachnids are a group of eight-legged invertebrate animals belonging to the class Arachnida, which also includes spiders, scorpions, mites, and ticks. They are characterized by their segmented body with two main parts, the cephalothorax (fused head and thorax) and the abdomen, as well as their lack of antennae and wings. Arachnids have simple eyes, usually two to four pairs, and are equipped with specialized appendages for feeding, mating, and defense.
