Harvestmen
Harvestmen, also known as daddy longlegs, are small arachnids belonging to the order Opiliones within the class Arachnida. They are characterized by their long, spindly legs and oval-shaped bodies without a distinct waist. Unlike spiders, harvestmen do not have venom glands or silk-producing spinnerets. They inhabit diverse environments ranging from forests to deserts and urban areas. Harvestmen play an essential role in the ecosystem as decomposers, consuming dead plant and animal matter, contributing to nutrient cycling. Some species exhibit unique behaviors such as sociality or nocturnal feeding patterns. Despite their harmless appearance and ecological benefits, harvestmen are often subject to misconceptions and fear due to their spider-like features.
