The Hebrew Bible, also known as the Mikra, is the Jewish sacred scripture that forms the basis of the Tanakh. It is divided into three main sections: the Torah (also called the Pentateuch), the Nevi'im (the Prophets), and the Ketuvim (the Writings). The Hebrew Bible contains 24 books, which were originally written in Hebrew and Aramaic. These books include historical accounts, poetry, wisdom literature, prophetic writings, and religious laws. The Hebrew Bible is considered to be the foundation of Jewish belief and practice, and it has had a profound influence on Western civilization as a whole. It serves as the basis for both Judaism and Christianity, and its teachings continue to shape the moral and spiritual values of people around the world.
