Gnosticism

Definition of Gnosticism as it relates to Religions, Atheism, Agnosticism

Gnosticism emphasizes personal spiritual knowledge and direct experience of the divine. It is rooted in the belief that the material world is an illusion, created by a lesser deity, and that true enlightenment comes from transcending this physical realm to access higher levels of consciousness and understanding. In the hierarchy of Religions/Atheism/Agnosticism, Gnosticism can be seen as a form of Agnosticism because it doesn't fully align with traditional religious beliefs or atheistic denial of a deity. However, its focus on experiential knowledge sets it apart from both, offering an alternative perspective that challenges the boundaries of these categories.
