Definition of Climate Change as it relates to Science, Chemistry, Environmental Science

Climate Change refers to significant changes in global temperatures and weather patterns over time. It is primarily driven by human activities, particularly the burning of fossil fuels, which releases greenhouse gases into the atmosphere and traps heat. The scientific consensus is that climate change is real, largely man-made, and a major threat to our planet's ecosystems, biodiversity, and human societies. In this hierarchy, Climate Change falls under Environmental Science, which in turn is a subfield of Chemistry, itself a branch of the broader discipline of Science. As such, studying climate change involves examining its chemical underpinnings, including the behavior of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, as well as its environmental impacts on ecosystems and biodiversity. Ultimately, understanding climate change requires a multidisciplinary approach that draws on insights from across the sciences.
