Minimalism

Definition of Minimalism as it relates to Art, Pop Art, Market

Dada is an artistic movement originating in Zurich during World War I, characterized by its rejection of rational thought and traditional aesthetic values. It was a response to the horrors and absurdity of war, and sought to subvert conventional notions of art through provocative and often nonsensical works. Dadaists employed a variety of mediums including painting, sculpture, collage, poetry, and performance art. The movement had an profound impact on Pop Art, which emerged in the 1950s and drew inspiration from mass culture and advertising. Both movements questioned the role of art in society and challenged the notion of what constitutes art. Dada's influence can also be seen in the contemporary art market, where provocative and unconventional works continue to challenge and intrigue collectors and critics alike.
