De Stijl, also known as neoplasticism, is an artistic movement originating in the Netherlands around 1917. The movement sought to express a new utopian ideal of spiritual harmony and order through abstract art. This can be seen in the works of artists such as Piet Mondrian and Theo van Doesburg, who were key figures in the movement. De Stijl was not just limited to visual arts but also extended to architecture, design and typography, with architects like Gerrit Rietveld and designers like Vilmos Huszár being part of the movement. Overall, De Stijl represents a minimalist, abstract aesthetic that aims to convey a sense of balance and harmony through its use of simple forms and colors.
