Definition of Painting as it relates to Art, Fauvist Art, Post Impressionism

Surrealist Art: A genre of art characterized by its exploration and portrayal of dreamlike, fantastical, and irrational scenes and imagery, often blurring the lines between reality and fantasy. It emerged in the early 20th century as a response to the horrors of World War I, with artists seeking to express their subconscious thoughts and emotions through art. Surrealist Art is heavily influenced by psychoanalysis, particularly the work of Sigmund Freud, and often features dreamlike landscapes, bizarre juxtapositions, and unexpected connections between objects. It is considered a form of Modern Art, as it emerged during the modernist period and shares many of its characteristics, such as a rejection of traditional artistic styles and techniques. Surrealist Art also has some similarities with Fauvist Art, as both movements sought to break away from established norms and explore new forms of expression. However, while Fauvist Art is characterized by its bold use of color and expressive brushstrokes, Surrealist Art is known for its dreamlike imagery and exploration of the subconscious mind.
