Definition of Painting as it relates to Art, Baroque Art, Fine Arts

Impressionism is an art movement that emerged in France during the latter half of the 19th century, characterized by its emphasis on capturing the fleeting impressions and sensations of modern life. It marked a departure from traditional fine arts, such as Baroque Art, with its focus on grandeur and dramatic lighting, towards a more spontaneous, naturalistic style that sought to convey the transient beauty of everyday scenes. Impressionist artists employed loose brushstrokes, vibrant colors, and innovative compositions to evoke the ephemeral quality of their subjects. They often painted en plein air (outdoors) to capture the changing effects of light and atmosphere on their surroundings. This movement challenged conventional notions of art, paving the way for new forms of expression in the 20th century.
