Whales
Whales are magnificent marine mammals known for their sheer size and graceful movements in water. They belong to the Cetacean family, which also includes dolphins and porpoises. Whales inhabit oceans worldwide and are divided into two main categories - baleen whales and toothed whales. Baleen whales have a comb-like structure made of keratin, called baleen, which they use to filter small fish and krill from the water. Toothed whales, on the other hand, have teeth and feed on larger prey such as squid and fish. Whales communicate with each other using a complex system of sounds, including clicks, whistles, and songs. They are also known for their long migration patterns, traveling thousands of miles every year in search of food and mates. Whales face numerous threats from human activities, such as entanglement in fishing gear, ship strikes, and noise pollution. Conservation efforts are underway to protect these magnificent creatures and ensure their survival for future generations.
