Cheetah
Cheetahs are large, slender felids known for their incredible speed and distinctive black tear streaks. They are native to Africa and parts of the Middle East, inhabiting open savannas and grasslands where they can reach top speeds of up to 60-70 miles per hour while hunting prey such as gazelles. Cheetahs have non-retractable claws, which provide them with enhanced traction for acceleration and turning quickly during high-speed pursuits. Their unique body structure, including a flexible spine, long legs, and large lungs, allows them to reach impressive speeds in short bursts. Despite their formidable abilities, cheetah populations face numerous threats from habitat loss, human conflict, and climate change, making conservation efforts crucial for their survival. As a result, cheetahs serve as an important indicator species for the health of grassland ecosystems within the "Wild Animals" hierarchy.
