Network Attached Storage
Network Attached Storage (NAS) refers to dedicated file-level computer data storage servers connected to a computer network providing data access to a heterogeneous group of clients. Typically, NAS is specialized for serving files either by its hardware, software, or configuration. It is often used in environments where multiple users need concurrent access to shared files and where high performance is not required. NAS can be deployed as a standalone device connected directly to the network, or it can be integrated with other network infrastructure components such as switches or routers. Common uses for NAS include media streaming, backup and archiving, and file sharing.
