Definition of Atheism as it relates to Religions, Agnosticism, Shinto

Atheism under Shinto: A rejection of the belief in the existence of deities, which contrasts with the animistic and polytheistic beliefs inherent in Shinto. While Shinto emphasizes the spiritual presence in natural elements and ancestor veneration, atheism denies any divine intervention or supernatural entities. This perspective is distinct from agnosticism, which holds that the existence of gods is unknowable, and from religions that affirm a belief in a higher power or deities.
