Computational Neuroscience

Definition of Computational Neuroscience as it relates to Science, Neuroscience, Quantum Mechanics

Computational Neuroscience at its core seeks to understand how the brain processes information by employing mathematical models, theoretical analysis, and computer simulations. It's an interdisciplinary field that amalgamates principles from neuroscience, physics, mathematics, engineering, and computer science to decipher the neural mechanisms underlying cognition, behavior, and mental disorders. In the context of Quantum Mechanics, Computational Neuroscience could explore how quantum phenomena may underlie certain neural processes, such as neuronal signaling and computation, synaptic plasticity, and even consciousness itself. By integrating these seemingly disparate fields, researchers aim to gain a deeper understanding of the brain's complexity and unlock new possibilities for treating neurological disorders and enhancing cognitive function.
