Mitosis
Mitosis is a process of cell division where one cell divides into two identical daughter cells, each containing the same number and kind of chromosomes as the parent nucleus. In this process, replicated chromosomes align at the metaphase plate, are separated in anaphase, and are enclosed within nuclear membranes in telophase before cytokinesis divides the cytoplasm. Mitosis plays a crucial role in growth, development, and tissue repair, making it a fundamental concept in genetics and chromosome biology. It is a key process in understanding how cells maintain their genetic material during division and how errors in this process can lead to diseases such as cancer.
