Educational Assessment
Educational assessment refers to the process of evaluating, measuring, and documenting the learning progress and achievement of students in educational settings. It encompasses various methods and tools used to gauge student understanding, skills, and knowledge acquisition in relation to specific learning objectives and standards. Educational assessment is an integral part of teaching and learning, as it informs instructional practices, helps teachers identify areas where students may need additional support or intervention, and provides feedback to students on their learning progress. It also serves as a means of accountability for educational institutions, ensuring that they are meeting the needs of their students and providing quality education. Educational assessment can take many forms, including formative assessments, which are used during instruction to monitor student understanding and adjust teaching strategies; summative assessments, which are used at the end of a unit or course to evaluate student learning outcomes; and diagnostic assessments, which are used to identify students' strengths and weaknesses and inform individualized instructional plans. Effective educational assessment is grounded in principles of fairness, validity, and reliability, and it takes into account the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and needs of all learners.
