Multicultural Education
Multicultural Education refers to an educational approach that recognizes, values, and incorporates diverse cultural perspectives into all aspects of teaching and learning. It emphasizes the importance of cultural competence in promoting equity, social justice, and academic success for all students. Multicultural education acknowledges the historical and contemporary experiences of different racial, ethnic, and linguistic groups and seeks to challenge and transform structures of power and privilege that perpetuate inequality. In this context, English Education can be understood as a component of multicultural education that focuses on the teaching and learning of English language and literature in ways that reflect and affirm the cultural diversity of students. Higher Education institutions may also adopt multicultural education frameworks to promote inclusive learning environments and prepare students for global citizenship.
