Impressionism

Definition of Impressionism as it relates to Art, Surrealism, Dream Art

Impressionism is an art movement originating in France during the late 19th century, characterized by its focus on capturing fleeting moments and natural light through loose brushstrokes, vibrant colors, and emphasis on visual perception over detail. It often seeks to convey a sense of spontaneity, mood, and atmosphere rather than objective reality. Surrealism and Dream Art share similarities with Impressionism in their exploration of the subconscious and subjective experience, but they differ in their use of fantastical or dreamlike imagery and techniques.
