Futurism
Cubism is an avant-garde art movement that emerged in the early 20th century, characterized by its departure from traditional perspective and representation. Pioneered by artists Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, cubism sought to break down objects into geometric shapes and analyze them from multiple viewpoints simultaneously, resulting in fragmented and abstract depictions. This approach challenged conventional notions of form, space, and time, and laid the groundwork for modern art movements such as futurism and constructivism. Cubism is often divided into two phases: analytical cubism, which emphasizes simplification and abstraction, and synthetic cubism, which focuses on the juxtaposition of different textures, patterns, and forms to create a new whole. At its core, cubism represents a radical shift in artistic practice, one that sought to disrupt established norms and explore new modes of visual expression.
