Building Information Modeling

Definition of Building Information Modeling as it relates to Architecture, Architectural Design, Interior Architecture

Building Information Modeling (BIM) encompasses an intelligent 3D model-based process used in architecture, architectural design, and interior architecture to efficiently plan, design, construct, and manage buildings and infrastructure. BIM integrates graphical and non-graphical information about a building project, allowing professionals to collaborate, analyze, and optimize the entire lifecycle of a facility from conception to demolition. It promotes better decision making, enhances visualization, improves sustainability, and reduces errors and waste throughout the design, construction, and operational phases.
