Penguins

Definition of Penguins as it relates to Animals, Zoo Animals, African Animals

Penguins are flightless aquatic birds primarily found in the Southern Hemisphere, with the exception of a few species that reside in the Galapagos Islands and Antarctica. They belong to the family Spheniscidae and are known for their distinctive waddling walk, as well as their ability to swim swiftly through water using their wings as flippers. Penguins have adapted to survive in cold environments by developing a layer of insulating feathers and a layer of blubber to keep warm. They primarily feed on fish, squid, and crustaceans that they catch underwater. Penguins are popular zoo animals due to their unique appearance and behavior, making them a favorite among visitors.
