Recombination

Recombination refers to the process by which genetic material from two different sources is mixed together to produce a new combination of genes. This can occur through various mechanisms, such as crossing over during meiosis in sexually reproducing organisms, or through horizontal gene transfer in bacteria. Recombination plays a key role in generating genetic diversity within populations, facilitating adaptation to changing environments, and driving evolution over time.
