Meiotic Recombination

Meiotic recombination is a biological process that occurs during meiosis, a type of cell division that produces gametes (sperm and egg cells) in sexually reproducing organisms. It involves the exchange of genetic material between homologous chromosomes, leading to genetic diversity in offspring. This process is essential for proper chromosome segregation and the creation of new combinations of genetic traits in offspring.
