The American League East is one of six divisions in Major League Baseball, comprised of five teams: the Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays, and Toronto Blue Jays. These teams are all located in the eastern region of the United States, hence the name "East." As a subdivision of the American League, the East division shares similar rules and regulations with its counterparts in the Central and West divisions. However, each team's performance within their respective division determines their eligibility for postseason play, making the American League East a highly competitive division in professional baseball.
