Leopard

Definition of Leopard as it relates to Animals, Mammals, Felines, Animal Kingdom, Wild Cats

Leopards are large, powerful felines known for their distinctive coat pattern of rosettes. They belong to the family Felidae and are part of the order Carnivora within the Animal Kingdom. As mammals, leopards have fur, give birth to live young, and produce milk to nurse them. Leopards exhibit great adaptability and can be found in a wide range of habitats, including forests, grasslands, and deserts. They are solitary animals, marking their territory with scent and avoiding confrontations with other leopards. These big cats are skillful hunters, capable of taking down prey both on the ground and in trees. As members of the Wild Cats subcategory under Felines, leopards share many characteristics with other wild cat species, such as lions, tigers, and jaguars. However, they stand out due to their incredible agility, strong limbs, and exceptional camouflage abilities. Their adaptability and predatory skills make them a fascinating part of the animal world.
