Cultural Studies
Cultural Studies: An interdisciplinary field that critically examines the systems, practices, and expressions of culture, with a particular focus on power dynamics, identity formation, and social justice. It encompasses the study of various cultural forms such as literature, art, music, media, and language, within specific historical, political, and economic contexts. By analyzing the intersections of race, gender, class, sexuality, and nationality in cultural productions, Cultural Studies seeks to understand how these factors shape individual and collective experiences, as well as challenge or reinforce dominant ideologies and structures. This field often emphasizes the voices and perspectives of marginalized communities, including those of African culture and other global cultures, with an aim to promote social transformation and empowerment through critical consciousness and cultural practices.
