Cultural Studies
Cultural Studies is a multidisciplinary field dedicated to analyzing culture and its role in society. It draws from disciplines such as sociology, anthropology, philosophy, literature, and media studies. The field seeks to understand how power relations operate within culture and how cultural practices shape and are shaped by political, economic, and social structures. Cultural Studies examines various forms of cultural expression, including art, music, literature, film, television, and digital media, with a focus on the historical and contemporary contexts that give them meaning. It also considers the ways in which identity categories such as race, gender, sexuality, class, and nation intersect with cultural practices and productions. Overall, Cultural Studies is concerned with promoting social justice by critically engaging with and challenging dominant cultural norms and practices.
