Meteorology
Meteorology is the scientific study of Earth's atmosphere and its phenomena, including weather and climate. As a branch of physics, meteorology applies principles from mechanics, thermodynamics, electricity, and chemistry to understand the behavior of gases, liquids, and solids in the atmosphere. Meteorologists use sophisticated instruments and computer models to observe, analyze, and predict atmospheric conditions, helping us prepare for and mitigate the impacts of weather hazards, such as hurricanes, tornadoes, and heatwaves. By studying the Earth's atmosphere, meteorology also contributes to our understanding of other planetary atmospheres in the solar system and beyond. Ultimately, meteorology plays a critical role in ensuring public safety, supporting economic growth, and promoting environmental sustainability.
