Pharmacology

Definition of Pharmacology as it relates to Science, Medicine, Anatomy

Pharmacology concerns the study of how various chemical substances, including drugs, interact with living organisms to produce changes in function. As part of the broader field of anatomy, which deals with the structure and organization of the body, pharmacology investigates the mechanisms by which these substances affect specific tissues and organs. It is closely related to medicine, as many drugs are used to prevent or treat illnesses, and to science, as it relies on fundamental scientific principles to understand the effects of drugs at a molecular level. In this way, pharmacology sheds light on the complex interactions between chemical agents and biological systems, providing valuable insights into both health and disease.
