Quantum Mechanics

Definition of Quantum Mechanics as it relates to Science, Mathematics, Quantum Field Theory

Quantum Mechanics is the branch of physics dealing with discrete quantities of energy. It introduces the concept of wave-particle duality, where particles can exhibit both wave and particle properties, and the uncertainty principle, which dictates the limits on simultaneously measuring certain properties of a system. Quantum Mechanics forms the basis for understanding quantum field theory, as it provides the framework for describing the behavior of matter and energy at the smallest scales. In this context, Quantum Mechanics can be seen as the study of individual particles and their interactions, while Quantum Field Theory extends this to include fields and forces.
