Calculus
Calculus is the study of rates of change, slopes of curves, areas under curves, and infinite series expansions. It has deep connections with abstract algebra through concepts such as groups of symmetries of geometric figures, fields of scalars in vector spaces, and rings of functions on topological spaces. In this hierarchy, calculus represents a branch of mathematics that is rooted in the study of science, where it finds applications in physics, engineering, economics, and computer science. As part of abstract algebra, it provides a language for understanding and generalizing fundamental concepts in algebraic structures, thereby enhancing our grasp of mathematical theories and their interconnections.
