Green Building

Definition of Green Building as it relates to Environment, Sustainable Development

Green Building refers to the practice of creating structures that are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout their life-cycle from siting to design, construction, operation, maintenance, renovation, and demolition. This concept is deeply rooted in the principles of sustainable development, which seek to ensure that the use of resources and the environment today does not harm future generations' ability to do the same. Green buildings are designed to reduce or eliminate negative impacts on the environment and can actually have a positive impact by generating their own energy, treating wastewater, and providing healthy indoor air quality. Ultimately, green building is about creating structures that are in harmony with the environment, respecting natural resources, and promoting human health and well-being.
