Theology

Definition of Theology as it relates to Education, Religious Education, Literacy

Theology refers to the study of divine beings and religious phenomena, often in relation to humanity's beliefs, practices, and experiences. In the context of education, theology can encompass both formal academic study and practical religious instruction. Religious education, therefore, may involve teaching specific religious texts, doctrines, and rituals, as well as fostering critical thinking and reflection on larger questions of meaning, purpose, and ethics. Literacy, in this context, is not limited to reading and writing skills but also includes the ability to understand and interpret religious texts and symbols. Theology as a discipline seeks to explore and deepen our understanding of the divine, its nature and relationship with humanity, and it can provide insights into various aspects of human experience, including ethics, spirituality, and culture.
