Definition of Learning Analytics as it relates to Education, Academic Degrees, Instructional Design

Learning Analytics refers to the collection, analysis, and reporting of data about learners and their contexts, for purposes of understanding and optimizing learning and the environments in which it occurs. It is an interdisciplinary field that draws from education, instructional design, computer science, and statistics. By analyzing patterns in data such as student engagement, performance, and progression, learning analytics can inform decision-making at various levels, from individual learners to institutions. Its applications include personalized learning, predictive modeling, and continuous improvement of teaching and learning practices. Ultimately, the goal of learning analytics is to enhance the learning experience and outcomes for all stakeholders involved in the education process.
