Ramadan
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community. During Ramadan, Muslims abstain from food, drink, smoking, and other physical needs from dawn until sunset. It is a time for spiritual reflection, increased devotion, and worship. The fasting is intended to teach self-discipline, humility, and compassion for those less fortunate, as well as to purify the soul and seek forgiveness for past sins. Ramadan is also a time of increased charitable giving, family gatherings, and community feasting before dawn and after sunset. The month of Ramadan culminates in the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, a festival of breaking the fast and giving thanks.
