Placental Mammals
Placental mammals are a diverse group of mammals that give birth to live young. The developing fetus is nourished through a placenta, which is a temporary organ that allows for the exchange of nutrients and waste between the mother and the developing offspring. This group includes a wide range of animals, from small rodents to large whales, and is the largest group of mammals on Earth. Placental mammals are characterized by their ability to adapt to a variety of habitats and their diverse range of behaviors and physical characteristics.
