Mammal Species
Mammal species refer to a diverse group of warm-blooded vertebrates that are characterized by the presence of mammary glands which produce milk to nourish their young. Mammals also typically have hair or fur covering their bodies, and give birth to live young (with the exception of monotremes which lay eggs). They are found in a wide range of habitats worldwide, from the depths of the ocean to the highest mountains. Mammals exhibit a wide range of adaptations for different lifestyles, including specialized teeth for eating various types of food, unique modes of locomotion, and complex social behaviors. The class Mammalia is further divided into numerous orders, families, genera, and species, each with its own distinct characteristics and evolutionary history.
