Zebras

Definition of Zebras as it relates to Animals, Animals By Habitat, Savanna

Zebras are striped equids native to the African savanna. They share this habitat with other large mammals such as giraffes, elephants, and lions. Zebras have a unique social structure where they live in small family units consisting of a male protector, several females, and their young offspring. These groups are known as harems. Zebras are herbivores, feeding on grasses and leaves found on the savanna. Their distinctive stripes serve as camouflage against predators, making it difficult for them to be distinguished from one another amidst the tall grass. The pattern of each individual's stripes is unique, much like human fingerprints. Zebras are an integral part of the African savanna ecosystem, contributing to its biodiversity and overall health. Their presence indicates a thriving habitat that can sustain diverse species populations.
