Computer Vision

Definition of Computer Vision as it relates to Technology, Robotics, Software Engineering

Computer Vision refers to the scientific discipline of designing algorithms and models that enable computers to interpret and understand visual information from the world, much like humans do. It involves developing techniques for image and video processing, analysis, and understanding, leading to applications in various fields such as autonomous systems, medical imaging, robotics, and security & surveillance. In this hierarchy, Computer Vision falls under Software Engineering, indicating its strong ties with programming and algorithm development. However, it also bridges the gap between Technology and Robotics by facilitating the interaction of machines with their environment through visual sensing. Computer Vision thus plays a pivotal role in advancing intelligent systems capable of perceiving and comprehending the complex visual world.
