Computer Vision refers to the field of studying how computers can gain high-level understanding from digital images or videos. It involves the development of algorithms and techniques for image acquisition, processing, analysis, and interpretation, enabling machines to identify, categorize, and comprehend visual information in a manner similar to human vision. Computer Vision is deeply rooted in various areas of Science, including Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, and Engineering, as well as Computer Science, particularly under Algorithms. By applying sophisticated algorithms, Computer Vision can recognize patterns, learn features, and make decisions based on visual data, thus significantly contributing to advancements in numerous domains like robotics, medical imaging, autonomous vehicles, and security systems among others.
