Virtualization

Definition of Virtualization as it relates to Technology, Cloud Computing, Serverless Computing

Virtualization in the context of Serverless Computing, a subset of Cloud Computing under Technology, is the process of creating a virtual version of something, such as a server, storage device, network or even an operating system. It enables multiple operating systems and applications to share resources, increasing the efficiency of servers and data centers, while reducing costs. In this context, Virtualization allows for the creation of isolated containers which execute code in response to events. These containers are decoupled from the underlying infrastructure, making them highly scalable and portable across different cloud providers or on-premise environments. This fits into the Serverless Computing model by providing an abstraction layer over the physical hardware, allowing developers to focus solely on writing and deploying their code without worrying about server management.
