Definition of Conservation as it relates to Science, Environmental Science, Evolutionary Biology

Conservation in the context of Evolutionary Biology within Environmental Science and Science as a whole, focuses on the preservation and management of biological diversity, with an emphasis on evolutionary principles. It involves understanding the processes that generate and maintain biodiversity, as well as identifying threats to it and developing strategies to mitigate those threats. This can include everything from studying the genetic diversity of populations to inform conservation efforts, to understanding the impacts of habitat loss and fragmentation on species' evolutionary trajectories. Ultimately, the goal of conservation in this context is to sustain the Earth's diverse ecosystems and the services they provide, while also allowing for the continued evolution of the species that inhabit them.
