Definition of Sustainable Development as it relates to Real Estate, Land Use Planning, Environmental Planning

Sustainable Development, as it pertains to Environmental Planning, refers to the creation and management of built environments in a way that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. It involves considering the environmental, social, and economic impacts of development decisions, with the goal of achieving long-term sustainability. This includes practices such as reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, protecting natural resources and ecosystems, promoting smart growth and compact development, and ensuring equitable access to affordable housing and transportation options. By integrating sustainable development principles into Environmental Planning, Real Estate, and Land Use Planning decisions, we can create communities that are not only economically viable and socially vibrant, but also environmentally resilient.
