Environmental Health

Definition of Environmental Health as it relates to Health, Global Health

Environmental Health refers to the branch of public health that studies how environmental factors, including physical, chemical, and biological factors, impact human health and disease. It encompasses the assessment, control, and prevention of environmental hazards in order to protect and promote human health and well-being. This field is closely linked to global health as many environmental health issues, such as climate change and air pollution, have transboundary impacts and require international cooperation to address. Environmental Health also recognizes the interconnectedness between human health and the health of ecosystems, and seeks to understand and mitigate the negative impacts of human activities on both.
