Cubist Art

Definition of Cubist Art as it relates to Art, Figurative Art, Impressionist Art

Orphism is an abstract art movement originating in France in the early 20th century, characterized by its vibrant use of color and geometric shapes. Named after the ancient Greek poet Orpheus, known for his musical abilities, this style emphasizes the harmony and rhythm created by the juxtaposition of colors and forms. While it shares similarities with Figurative Art and Expressionist Figurative Art in its use of bold colors and emotive qualities, Orphism diverges from these styles through its complete abstraction, rejecting any recognizable subject matter in favor of pure visual language. This movement paved the way for later abstract art movements, including Cubism and Futurism, and continues to influence contemporary artists today.
