Postmodern Art

Definition of Postmodern Art as it relates to Art, Conceptual Art, Pop Art

Lyrical Abstraction is an art movement characterized by its emphasis on emotion, color, and form over representation or subject matter. It emerged in the mid-20th century as a reaction against the rigid constraints of geometric abstraction, and sought to express the artist's inner world through intuitive, spontaneous brushstrokes and vibrant color palettes. Lyrical Abstraction is often associated with gestural or action painting, and shares similarities with other art movements such as Abstract Expressionism, Color Field Painting, and Tachisme. At its core, Lyrical Abstraction is an exploration of the expressive potential of non-objective forms, inviting viewers to engage with the work on a purely emotional level.
