Definition of Oil Painting as it relates to Art, Baroque Art, Fine Arts

Expressionism is an artistic movement and style characterized by the distortion of form, color, and line to convey intense emotion and subjective interpretation. It emerged in Germany and Austria at the turn of the 20th century as a reaction against traditional academic art and the prevailing naturalistic styles of the time. Expressionist artists sought to express their inner worlds and personal experiences rather than objective reality, often exaggerating or simplifying forms to create a sense of heightened emotion and psychological depth. This approach is evident in various forms of fine arts such as painting, printmaking, sculpture, and even music and literature.
