Primates

Definition of Primates as it relates to Animals, Predator animals, Predator Animal Types

Primates are a group of mammals characterized by their forward-facing eyes and specialized brain structures, which allow for enhanced depth perception and complex cognitive abilities. They are highly social animals, often living in groups and exhibiting sophisticated communication behaviors. Primates include a diverse range of species, such as monkeys, apes, and lemurs, each with unique adaptations to their specific environments. These animals display varying degrees of arboreal locomotion, from quadrupedalism to brachiation, and have opposable thumbs, which facilitate manipulation of objects in their environment. Primates are primarily herbivorous, feeding on fruits, leaves, and nuts, but some species also consume insects and other small animals. They are found predominantly in tropical and subtropical regions around the world, with a few species inhabiting temperate forests.
