Sharks are a group of elongated, fish-like creatures known for their powerful jaws and rows of sharp teeth, which they use to tear flesh from their prey. They inhabit a wide range of marine environments, from shallow coastal waters to deep seas around the world. Despite common misconceptions, most sharks are not dangerous to humans, as attacks are rare and often occur due to mistaken identity. However, some species, such as great whites, tiger sharks, and bull sharks, can be aggressive and pose a threat to swimmers. Sharks play an important role in maintaining the balance of marine ecosystems by controlling populations of other fish and crustaceans. They are also fascinating subjects for scientific research, helping us understand more about their sensory systems, behavior, and evolutionary history. Unfortunately, many shark species are threatened or endangered due to overfishing, habitat loss, and the demand for shark fins in traditional Asian cuisine. Conservation efforts are underway to protect these magnificent animals and ensure their survival for future generations.
